The Admissions Process

Five Steps from First Call to First Day

01

Call for a Free Confidential Assessment

15–30 minutes

Your first call is completely confidential. A trained admissions specialist will ask you a few questions about what you or your loved one is experiencing — the substances involved, how long it has been going on, and whether there are any co-occurring mental health concerns. There is no judgment, no pressure, and no obligation.

  • A real person answers — no automated systems
  • We ask about substance use history and current situation
  • We ask about any co-occurring mental health conditions
  • We discuss which level of care may be the best fit
  • We answer any questions you have about our programs
If you are not ready to call, you can also start with a confidential online inquiry and we will reach out to you.
02

Verify Your Insurance Coverage

Same day

Once we understand your situation, we will verify your insurance benefits before you commit to anything. Our team works directly with your insurance provider to determine what is covered, what your out-of-pocket costs will be, and whether prior authorization is required. We handle this process so you do not have to.

  • We contact your insurance provider directly
  • We verify your deductible, copay, and coverage limits
  • We identify any prior authorization requirements
  • We explain your benefits in plain language
  • We discuss financial assistance options if needed
We work with most major insurance providers including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and others.
03

Choose Your Program and Location

Same day or next day

Based on your assessment and the level of care recommended, we will help you choose the right program and facility within the Keystone network. Whether that is medically supervised detox at Balance Point or residential treatment at Sunset Haven, we will explain what each option involves and help you make the right decision.

  • We explain the difference between detox and residential programs
  • We match you to the facility best suited to your clinical needs
  • We walk you through what a typical day looks like in each program
  • We answer questions about length of stay and what comes after
  • We confirm availability and set an admission date
If you need to start with detox, we will coordinate a seamless transition to residential treatment so your care is never interrupted.
04

Prepare for Arrival

1–3 days before admission

Once your admission date is confirmed, we will send you a detailed intake packet with everything you need to know before you arrive. Our team will also coordinate transportation if needed, and answer any last-minute questions from you or your family.

  • You receive a welcome packet with facility details and directions
  • We confirm your insurance authorization
  • We arrange transportation if needed
  • We provide a packing list of what to bring and what to leave at home
  • A family liaison is available to answer questions from loved ones
Same-day admissions are available for clients who need to start immediately. Call us and we will make it happen.
05

Arrive and Begin Treatment

Day 1

When you arrive, you will be greeted by a member of our clinical team who will walk you through the intake process. This includes a medical evaluation, a clinical assessment, and a brief orientation to the facility. By the end of your first day, you will have a personalized treatment plan and a clear picture of what the next several weeks will look like.

  • Medical evaluation and vital signs check
  • Clinical intake assessment with a licensed counselor
  • Facility orientation and introduction to your care team
  • Review of your individualized treatment plan
  • Settling into your room and meeting other clients
Family members are encouraged to call our family liaison line on Day 1 to receive an update and ask any questions.
